Job
Description
SUMMARY: The Executive
Director (ED) is the Chief Executive Officer and
works under the administrative direction of the BAND Board of
Directors, and is responsible for all aspects of BAND’s operations
including administrative, program development, budgets, advocacy,
public policy and personnel. The ED shall assist the Board in
accomplishing the agency’s goals and objectives as detailed in its
Strategic Plan, as established by the Board of Directors.
Duties
related to the Board of Directors:
Assist the Board of
Directors in preparing a Strategic Plan, including the development of
an annual budget, and regularly review corporate financial reports to
determine and implement necessary adjustments to ensure sound financial
operations.
Administrative
Duties:
Implement current
and long range objectives, plans, policies, projects and programs
approved by the Board of Directors.
Regularly review
the operating results of the organization, compare them to established
corporate objectives and make any necessary adjustments in operations
to ensure that corporate objectives are met, and that quality of
programs meet agreed upon standards of membership, contracting agencies
and funding institutions.
Advocacy
Duties:
Membership,
Marketing and Public Relations Duties:
Represent the
corporation with the community, private and public funding
institutions, partners, the general public and media.
Personnel
Management Duties:
Hire needed
personnel based upon availability of funding and authorization to hire
by the Board of Directors. Develop and maintain a sound plan for
personnel management including establishing policies to ensure
development of personnel and provide for succession of staff with
qualified personnel. At a future date, scope will include supervision
of staff.
Job
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum
qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in related field and one year
experience in similar field OR 5 years documented experience in housing
or community development. Comprehensive
knowledge of and belief in community & economic development as
it improves the quality of life for low-income people and disadvantaged
communities. Must show evidence
of:
Strong planning, administrative, organizational
development and staff management skills Fundraising and
grant writing experience Ability to
capitalize on opportunities for growth and development of organization
Excellent verbal
and written communication skills and attention to detail
Strong financial management skills
Conference planning
and implementation Good working
relationships with previous Boards and colleagues
Understanding of
legislative process and experienced in legislative advocacy
Leadership and good
moral character
Able to work well with a variety of people and
organizations Computer literate
with a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, data base and
internet Willing and able to
travel regionally on occasion
Compensation
- Salary
range $35-$45k
- Part
or full time position with flexible hours.
